Zoo Miami recognizes MDFR with flag display at Station 43
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Zoo Miami visited Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station 43 on Saturday in honor of their outstanding service.
According to Zoo Miami Communications Director Ron Magill, firefighters were presented with a flag to recognize them as “the zoo’s first duty” and as a first responder to any type of emergency, as well as an asset to zoo animals.
“Whether it’s fires, hurricanes, trauma, heat stroke, or even animal injuries, they (MDFR) have always been there,” Magill said. “It was an invaluable partnership.”
Magill said 1 million guests visit Zoo Miami each year and has worked with MDFR for decades.
“We can’t put into words the value we can put in a relationship like this,” Magill said. “It is a great pleasure for us to recognize them and to understand how much we appreciate them.”
