Young Thug was arrested Monday night in Georgia on gang charges, according to online jail records.
The “Go Crazy” rapper, real name Jeffery Lamar Williams, has been charged with conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participating in criminal street gang activity. According to the Constitution of the Atlanta Journalthe RICO law charge stems from an alleged crime committed in January 2013, while the gang activity charge stems from an alleged incident in May 2018.
Young Thug’s arrest comes after a 56-case grand jury indictment filed in Fulton County, Georgia, naming 28 YSL members or associates – including fellow rapper Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, who is also serving on an indictment of conspiracy to hurt RICO. The indictment refers to YSL — which also shares the same initials as Young Thug’s YSL Records — as a “criminal street gang formed in late 2012” that “claims to be part of the national Bloods gang.”
Atlanta’s WSB-TV reports that Young Thugs will appear in court for the first time Tuesday at 11:30 a.m
Representatives for Young Thug and Gunna have not responded to requests for comment Rolling Stone.
