Each app on your iPhone can give you a unique advertising ID.

This allows the app to follow you across the web, including your movements in other apps.

The idea is that apps can show you more relevant ads by following your movements online.

But it means giving up your privacy — especially when every app is tracking you.

Apple has already rolled out a feature for the Safari web browser that blocks websites from doing this.

But you must now check your iPhone hidden list to uncover all the apps that might be following you.

“Apps that have asked permission to track your activity with an identifier will appear here.”

“Tracking activity will be blocked by apps you’ve denied access.”

How to disable ad tracking on iPhone

The new system is very simple.

When you load an app for the first time after the update, you will see a popup.

This notification appears when the app you are using wants to track your activity across other apps and websites.

In the pop-up, the app maker has an opportunity to explain why they want to track you.

And then you can either allow tracking or ask the app not to follow you virtually.

If you change your mind later, you can change your choice.

Just go into yours iPhone settingsthen tap privacy and then choose persecution above.

You’ll find a huge list of apps that you can allow or disallow tracking for.

And you can even turn off the ability for all apps to request tracking, effectively stopping them all from following you.

That means a major advertiser like Facebook can no longer “virtually” follow you around the web to get a picture of your lifestyle, spending habits and more.

“We believe users should have choices about what data is collected about them and how it is used,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a tweet late last year.

“Facebook can, as before, track users across apps and websites.

“App tracking transparency in iOS 14 only requires them to ask for your permission first.”
