Instagram user @stylebug__ has served up a tip for the correct use of gift bags in a recent post.

“The right way to use a gift bag!” she said in a video caption.

Her simple trick aims to keep gifts hidden once they’re in the bag.

Often we see gift bags that are presented completely open but with tissue paper to hide the gift.

There’s an easier way, and it doesn’t require tissue paper, according to the Instagram user.

The video shows her holding a gift bag with text on the screen that reads, “This whole time you’ve been using the gift bag wrong.”

She then offers a simple tip to ensure the bag stays closed, hiding the contents from prying eyes.

The Instagram user suggests looping together the cords from inside the bag.

“Take each hand of the handle and pull it through the opposite side,” she is heard in the video.

She demonstrates what it looks like on a black and pink polka dot bag with a pink bow on the front.

“Now pull the handles to close the bag,” she says.

And the inside of the bag is pulled together tightly without any gaps being seen.

“Now you know how to actually use a gift bag,” she said at the end of the video.
