XFL Brawl broke out at the end of the Defenders-Battlehawks

The XFL 3.0 has a very different vibe than the original version as the league is now a much friendlier and safer place than the XFL of the early 2000s, which glorified football’s violence in a way that leagues are now trying to mitigate.

The league’s stated aim is to give boys the opportunity to film their game and showcase their talents so they can continue (or begin) a higher-level career somewhere in the fall. However, it’s still football and as such tensions can run high in an inherently violent game, which is what we saw at the end of a thrilling back-and-forth game between the DC Defenders and the St. Louis Battlehawks as things were in an ugly brawl broke out that took almost a minute to separate and pull everyone apart.

As Tom Luginbill noted from the sidelines, it had been a lively game throughout, and eventually, as DC clinched a win, that lively game turned into an extended struggle as someone from St. Louis ended up at the end of a pile of Defenders players who had obviously taken offense at something and gave him the business. Of course, that led to other Battlehawks players coming over to try and protect their dude, and things just escalated from there.
