WSOP – Jason Mercier Proposes to Girlfriend Natasha Barbour at the WSOP | poker news

You can’t get much closer to poker’s most coveted prize – a World Series of Poker bracelet – than getting to three players in a tournament like this.
Leaving the event at this point is an oddly bittersweet and frustrating moment for most. You usually take home a significant prize, but it can be a long time before you are in such a position again.
Such was the case for Natasha Barbour on Friday afternoon as she watched her run finish in third place in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em event for a robust $348,374 payday. Her boyfriend Jason Mercier, who had already had the best summer of his life with two bracelet wins and a second, came on stage seemingly to comfort her.
As she held Marshmallow, her service dog, who accompanied each of them on their respective final performances, Mercier got on his knee to propose to her. Barbour set the dog down and let Mercier officially ask her, and well, we’ll let you see how it played out in front of a crowd of hundreds and a much larger audience on the live stream of the WSOP.
A quick note: between the two, they have two bracelets, five final tables, 17 cashes, more than $1.3 million in tournament winnings (not to mention the hefty sum Mercier made from his bracelet bets), and now an engagement, everything in all the last six weeks. Not a bad way to spend a summer.
