In a now-viral TikTok, an employee says she was fired at a Microsoft Teams meeting with a human resources representative, sparking a discussion in the comments about firing practices.
In the video posted by TikToker Andrea Mora (@andreamora_5) on April 29, she shows on her computer screen a 30-minute meeting scheduled with HR. She turns to the camera, crying, and says, “I’m about to be fired. Wish me luck.”
The video is titled “I’m getting fired in less than an hour!” and had over 774,000 views as of Wednesday, with commenters asking for an update after the ominous meeting.
In a follow-up video, Mora shares that she was fired and that while she “didn’t expect to get that call that day,” she wanted to quit her job anyway.
“I wanted to quit because I was unlucky there, but I guess they wanted to be first,” says Mora. “It still hurt. It still hurt so much.”
While many users said words of encouragement, several commenters, who say she works in HR, noted that she may have been “wrongly fired” and could be entitled to compensation.
“But what was her real justification? They can’t just fire you for no reason (I’m HR),” one commenter wrote.
“What reason did you give? You have to give a reason or it’s a wrongful dismissal,” said another.
“Get the severance pay, honey!” a third added.
Since being fired, Mora has documented her job-hunting process on her TikTok account.
The Daily Dot contacted Mora via TikTok comment.
