Woman tells horror story about booking flight on discount website

A TikToker has gone viral after showing an empty gate on the video sharing platform and claiming she booked her ticket on a discount travel site.

In a video with over 18 million views, TikTok user Komal (@meowkn) filmed herself saying, “Never book a plane on a coupon site because bitch tell me why, boarding starts in an hour, the gate is empty and the plane is there.”

In the video, the TikToker claimed she had never heard of the airline operating the flight: “Bitch I’m flying Flybe what is Flybe I’ve never heard of Flybe,” but also pointed out that she decided to fly with her anyway, as the ticket only cost her $100. She also asked her viewers to keep an eye on the flight to London Heathrow because she was “terrified”.

Commenters were quick to point out the dangers of booking outside of trusted sites and cracked jokes at their own expense.

“Girls this is not a deal or bargain this is a test drive,” wrote one user.

“You’ll be like Flight 828!” another joked.

“tbf flybe went bankrupt during covid so it’s probably not that popular anymore,” said a third commenter.

Flybe, a British regional airline, filed for bankruptcy in 2020 but has resumed operations since April 2022.

In a follow-up video, the TikToker claimed that not only did the pilot not know where the flight was going and that the airline had no gate, but the plane allegedly caught fire. The Daily Dot contacted the airline Flybe to confirm or refute these claims but has yet to receive a response.

In the comments section, viewers shared their personal experiences with Flybe.

“My ex is a Flybe pilot and yes the company is not doing well… their planes are always almost empty,” claimed one commenter.

“Oh my god I was on Flybe and thought I was dying girl,” shared another commenter.

“Nah, our plane smelled of burning too. It was horrible but it was okay,” claimed a third commenter.

The Daily Dot contacted Komal via Instagram direct message and Flybe via press email.
