A woman on TikTok says staff at the hotel she’s staying at tried to steal her Grubhub order.
The woman, who goes by @recycldstardust on TikTok, says she’s staying at a Marriott hotel in New Jersey in the now-viral video. On the night in question, she ordered McDonald’s for herself and her children through Grubhub and waited in the hotel lobby for the driver to bring the food.
The TikToker says she was the only customer waiting in the lobby, but the Grubhub driver didn’t give her the order. She says he “throws the stuff down and runs.” Although her name wasn’t on the order, the TikToker took the bags since they appeared to be hers.
As she was taking the food, a security guard and a hotel worker approached her, says @recycldstardust. The guard and clerk asked to check the Grubhub bag and told her she couldn’t just take it with her.
“I’m like, ‘You’re mine. I ordered McDonald’s for my kids and I ordered a salad for myself. And I was the only one waiting for food down here,'” says the TikToker, sharing what she told the hotel staff.
@recycldstardust The hotel staff paid for this out of pocket. I still have nothing but love for Marriott, but they don’t have to grab people’s bags. #marriot #storytime #ubereats ♬ original sound – Recycledstardust
She says the clerk took the order from her and examined it. She claims the employees never asked her name or saw her Grubhub receipt.
“They never wanted to see my phone. They never asked my name, but they take my bags from my hands and won’t give them back until I’ve literally grabbed them,” she says. “Like what the hell?”
In the comments section, several viewers offered advice for TikToker.
“Girls never. You’ll have to call the company,” commented one viewer.
“Complain, you can even do that at the front desk,” suggested another. In response, the creator wrote, “It was the front desk that came to me with the problem.”
Other viewers expressed disbelief at the behavior of the hotel staff.
“Oh damn no! Omg I would get mad,” one viewer commented.
“Oh damn no! I love Marriott but this is unacceptable. Complain to the company,” agreed a second.
“WHAT. I’ve worked at the hotel front desk for years and would NEVER do that,” wrote another. In response, the creator commented, “I’ve stayed at Marriotts across the country. I’m platinum elite and never have any of them.” done that. I think it might have been the area.”
