Woman says ex-boyfriend called her his dead girlfriend’s name

Strange, horrible relationships are common in real life. At some point you will definitely meet them. It’s a very understandable situation. But user Carly Burke went viral on TikTok for sharing her own story, a very bizarre tale about what might be the worst relationship of all time.

Burke begins the video with this question: “Have you ever been in a relationship where you thought you were being cheated on and then you find out what’s actually happening and wish you were being cheated on? Yes, that happened to me.”

She then dives into her story about her relationship with “Bob,” who kept calling her “Jessica,” despite her name Carly, leading her to believe she was being cheated on. To make matters worse, his family occasionally called her Jessica, his grandparents had the audacity to ask them to call her Jessica because it would be “easier”.

Because of this, she was convinced that Bob was cheating on her, even though he never admitted it. She was driven to examine a locket he wore around his neck. Carly was in for a shock. She opened the locket to reveal a photo of a woman who looked exactly like her but wasn’t. The other woman’s name was Jessica and she was dead, a detail confirmed to her by Bob’s brother.

According to Burke, Bob only started dating her to cope with losing Jessica. Eventually Burke had enough and decided to break up with him, inadvertently revealing how unstable Bob was.

“He stabbed himself” and blamed her for it, claiming he didn’t want to lose her “again”. To wrap up the video, Burke jokingly explained the reason she dated Bob because “he was good with Eric Cartman (South Park) Impressions.”

In an interview with the Daily Dot, Burke shared how long she had been with Bob.

“We were only together for three months. A lot of people think we dated longer because I met his family,” she wrote via email. “I had told him verbally that I didn’t want to meet his family yet, but he ‘surprised’ me on the second day of the date by meeting everyone.”

According to Burke, she asked about Jessica, but it was a sensitive subject.

“I asked him several times but he got very angry and/or shut down. Asking about it was definitely taboo. The last time I asked him who Jessica was was before I found out. His only answer was, ‘Don’t say her name,'” she said.

Burke stated that she broke up with Bob over FaceTime. While on FaceTime, he pulled a knife out of a drawer and stared at her, holding it up. She made a sarcastic remark and asked, “‘What are you going to do? Stitch me?'” and then he stabbed himself. When she asked if he needed to go to the hospital, he nonchalantly pulled a needle and fishing wire from the same drawer and stitched his arm, wincing in pain.

A few weeks later, Burke received a text from his brother saying that Bob was “no longer with us.”

His brother then told her over the phone that Bob was “not dead” but had “joined the military.” Apparently, Bob made his brother feel bad for “breaking them up” by “telling her about Jessica” and made him lie on Bob’s behalf because he thought “joining the military” would convince Burke.

Burke said she received a call from “the army base” with Bob pretending to be in the military. Burke said the number was his grandmother’s landline number. For a few months, Bob Burke called and pretended they had never broken up.

She ended the video by recounting how Jessica “died in a car accident, wasn’t wearing her seat belt and was thrown out the windshield.”

“The family that’s there makes me want to,” wrote one viewer.

“This is funny but also wildly disgusting and dehumanizing for you and I’m sorry omg,” said a second.

“My jaw dropped lower and lower throughout this whole story,” wrote a third.

“Why did it keep getting worse?!?!?” asked a fourth.
