Woman says claw clip was stuck in her head in accident

After a mud accident resulted in a head injury to Paisley Riley (@paisley.rileyyy), the small-town Mississippi girl took to TikTok to raise awareness of how dangerous claw clamps can be in a car accident.

The viral video, which showed images of Riley lying on a hospital gurney with a neck brace and blood pouring over her head, has garnered over 23.1 million views on TikTok. Riley also showed off the claw clip in the video. It had red spots on it that appeared to be blood.

“The claw clip didn’t even break, they casually returned it to me,” she wrote in a text overlay.

In a follow-up video, Riley described what happened during the accident. She explained that her friend made a sharp turn that resulted in her head bumping into a metal bar that was tucking the hair clip into the back of her head.

In the video’s caption, Riley apologized for the stuttering and shaking. She explained that she had a concussion and was taking medication, which she said in the video didn’t help much.

Riley also shared that her mother had to help the doctors find the headlight button so they could see where the clips needed to be placed. She noted that the doctors didn’t move her hair before inserting the clips, which many viewers referenced in the comments section.

“Listen I crashed a quadricycle and had brain surgery and they put my hair in the stitches too which hair I left LMFAOO,” one viewer wrote.

“45 minutes drive!! stapled your hair into the wound!! this is TERRIBLE,” commented a second.

“I know and just before they pinned me they told me my hair would never grow back there and I broke down because I hadn’t seen how bad it was,” shared another.

Although many viewers expressed their support for Riley, the TikToker shared that she received backlash from viewers who commented that she deserved what happened to her because she goes hunting and fishing.

The backlash didn’t bring Riley down, however. She continued to spread awareness of how dangerous claw clamps can be in the event of an accident. Having heard stories of people in similar situations who have had permanent brain damage or died as a result of their injuries, Riley said she feels fortunate.

“It could have been so much worse. It could have been worse than just five staples,” she concluded.

The Daily Dot contacted Paisley Riley via TikTok comment.
