Woman on TikTok says she accidentally dated ‘local stalker’

In a viral TikTok video, a woman shares her “worst date ever,” which saw her date a man who ended up becoming a “local stalker.” User Paige Hardy (@deconstruct_with_paige) claims the alleged date occurred when she was a junior in college. She met the guy on the first day of her ethics class, she says, and agreed to go out with him.

Hardy says the first red flag happened when he invited her over to his home to cook dinner. When she politely declined, claiming she would be more comfortable in a public place, the man reportedly got angry.

“He’s like, ‘Do you think I’m some weirdo or something? How dare you?’” shares Hardy.

The TikToker says they end up going out for coffee, where she learned that despite being a film major, he had zero opinions on films. Finally, the man allegedly asks her where she lives. Hardy cites a large apartment complex near the campus that housed about 1,000 people. The man then reportedly asks, “What apartment?”

“I’m starting to freak out, so I lied to him,” says Hardy.

The next day, Hardy says she was hanging out with some friends when he started spamming her by texting him to hang out. Hardy claims she told him she was busy with friends, which is why he allegedly called her a “slut.” After berating her via text message, he reportedly apologized and asked if he could make up for it by taking her out to dinner.

Hardy says she posted the text conversation using only his first name on a local feminist Facebook page. Apparently, Hardy wasn’t the first woman to be affected by this young man’s aspirations. She says the post quickly took off, with around 39 women commenting that they were either stalked or had a strange experience with this man.

“Turns out this guy slipped into the canvas DMs of every single person in that class who had a feminine-sounding name,” says Hardy in a follow-up video. “And that was like a 300-person class.”

The women are reportedly beginning to claim that they often see the man in their apartment complexes all the time. One of them, Hardy claims, said the man even followed her home and molested her when she was out with friends.

“He was just trying to cast a broad net and see what would work,” says Hardy.

She allegedly filed a lawsuit with the Title IX Bureau, which deals with on-campus sexual harassment and violence. She says the office claimed they were familiar with the man and had put together courses and a plan for him as he was said to have some “learning and intellectual disabilities”.

“He didn’t stick to that plan, so he didn’t learn anything,” says Hardy. “He molested more women and eventually got kicked out of my university.”

Hardy’s video has been viewed more than 266,000 times since it was uploaded to TikTok on May 6th. Hundreds of women were either upset on Hardy’s behalf or shared their own experiences with “scary” men.

“I feel like a man who doesn’t understand why a woman would want a first date in a public place is quite a red flag to just end it there,” read one top comment.

“I was on a date with this guy and he said he ‘don’t really listen to music,'” wrote another.

“I feel like every woman experiences this,” commented a third.

Hardy says that from that point on she used a list of screening questions about men to find out if they were creepy before dating them. She says she stuck to her rules when she met a random man three years ago and now they are getting married in October.

“You’re allowed to have limits,” she says. “Listen to the red flags.”
