Woman falls to her death in Provo’s Rock Canyon

(Provo Police Department) A woman died Saturday when she fell while climbing in Rock Canyon, according to police.

According to Provo police, a 40-year-old woman died when she fell while hiking in Rock Canyon.

According to a news release, the woman was climbing with friends in an area known as the “Balcony” on Saturday afternoon when she fell. Provo police were notified of the fall at 3:36 p.m., but when the city’s search and rescue team arrived, they found the woman had died.

On Monday, police released a news release about her fall. Although her family has been notified of her death, authorities have not released her name as of Tuesday morning. According to police, further information “will be released at a later date.”

The woman’s death remains under investigation.
