In a viral TikTok video, a DoorDash driver shared that a customer ordered a suitcase full of Kellogg’s cereal, ostensibly to eat with every meal.
The driver, known as Roger Smith (@rogersmith15) on TikTok, shared a video of the DoorDash order in the trunk of his car on April 27.
“A very old lady ordered 24 boxes of cereal because she couldn’t afford more. Every meal, every day,” reads the video’s on-screen caption. As of Tuesday, the video received approximately 1.9 million views.

The TikTok sparked debate among viewers, with some sympathetic to the older woman and others skeptical.
“It’s actually really sad…” commented a viewer of the video.
“How heartbreaking,” said another viewer.
Other viewers pointed out that 24 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal is indeed an expensive bill. Some even said the video was a lie.
“Cereal is expensive,” said one TikToker user.
“Ok I know that’s a lie, Special K is $5-6 per crate depending on location. That’s about $130, you can buy much better groceries for that!” wrote another user.
A third viewer commented: “$100 cereal maybe 1 box would last 3 days that’s 72 days of food for $100 I would say a good investment not the best idea.”
“Eggs and some loaves of bread would be a lot cheaper than what muesli costs,” suggested one viewer as an alternative to muesli.
“Aren’t microwavable meals cheaper than a packet of cereal?” said another viewer.
Some viewers offered possible explanations for the woman’s unusual grocery order.
“She may not be able to cook. Some old people don’t run their devices because of the cost. Or maybe physically incapable. I don’t see any milk so dry?” suggested a viewer.
“Many older people find it difficult to swallow. Granola is easier to eat,” argued another viewer.
One user commented, “I have a feeling she meant other means of exhaustion. . .physically unable to cook/clean, maybe she is a widow and meals just aren’t the same anymore.”
Speculations aside, one user wrote: “True or not, this brings to light that many seniors are struggling financially. Be neighborly. Bring food or just company.”
