A woman filmed swearing at airline staff and being kicked off a flight has apologized for her “ruthless, aggressive and obnoxious behavior”.

Catherine Bush, from West Yorkshire, has been heavily criticized for her behavior on a Jet2 flight from Manchester to Turkey, where she yelled at cabin crew and passengers.

The flight had to be diverted to Austria to lift her off and she was later given a life ban and a £5,000 fine.

She has since written an apology letter to the airline, attempting to explain and apologize for her actions, which allegedly culminated in her attempting to open the plane door mid-flight and hitting a fellow flyer.

Ms Bush said she felt “embarrassed and ashamed” of her behavior, which she says was due to a drink she had at the airport.

She admitted that she was afraid of flying as she had never been alone on a plane and had a drink before the flight to calm her nerves.

This, coupled with the fact that she was not on medication for mental illness, proved to be a “huge, life-changing mistake.”

“I took alcohol on board the plane when I knew I shouldn’t have, I was so drunk I couldn’t control myself,” she wrote in a letter seen by Leeds lives.

“The stewardess was right to confiscate my alcohol which wasn’t a problem but unfortunately after I asked the staff for a bottle of water and was refused I got angry.”

She claimed after being refused food by cabin crew her anger “really took hold” and she lost her temper – but denied attempting to open the plane door or make physical contact with a passenger.

“I just wanted to get out of the situation and there was no way out, but I certainly didn’t try to open the plane door and endanger other passengers.

“I did not lay hands on anyone on this flight, I have three people who were on the flight who can testify that I did not physically harm any passengers or staff.”

Ms. Bush admitted her erratic behavior was out of character. She said she received “so much hate” about her actions that she was “embarrassed and ashamed”.

She wrote: “I have received so much hate, abuse and harassment since this incident happened across social media platforms that it is having a negative impact on my mental state.

“I’m so embarrassed and ashamed of myself it’s getting too much to take but at least I’m in good hands here with some friends who are making me feel a little bit better about the whole situation .

“Again, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for causing grief to so many people.”
