Woman argues with McDonald’s employees about drive-thru closing time

A viral video on TikTok shows a verbal altercation between a McDonald’s customer and several employees. The worker @itsv.diorr who posted the video claims: “I think I lost my job [for] stand by my side.”

In the video, a customer stands in front of the drive-through window and yells at a young worker, who yells back at her. The customer held up her phone throughout the altercation and said she was also recording the situation.

In the comments, @itsv.diorr confirms she is the worker in yellow and says the altercation ended after she called her mother to say a woman was harassing her at work. The worker texted that her mother showed up and told the customer to hurry away.

“Basically, she was mad because she waited in line for too long, but we were about to close while we were cleaning up. but when I called my mom up there she didn’t want to bump, she drove off and ran the red light,” reads the text overlay.

The video has been viewed nearly 4 million times since it was posted on May 30th. Viewers questioned why @itsv.diorr was lying on the floor and pressed against the wall at the beginning of the video. The worker made it clear that she was trying to avoid being recorded.

Many viewers applauded the worker for standing up for herself and expressed sympathy at believing she lost her job.

“These people get mad and think they can talk to workers any way they want. lol. I’m glad you spoke up and I hope you have another job!” said one.

Others pointed out how problematic it was for an adult to treat young workers in this way. “That’s my problem when I get a job as a teenager, adults try us and don’t even realize they’re talking to someone, a kid!” another wrote.

Towards the end of the clip, another employee tells his colleagues to “just throw the drink at them.” Another employee calmly closes the drive-through window in front of the woman. Many viewers pointed out these moments in the video.

“The way he closed the window LMFAOOO,” laughed one.

Insider cited a Black Box Intelligence Survey that reported that about 62% of restaurant workers said they had experienced “emotional abuse and disrespect from customers,” and another 49% said they had been abused by managers in a similar capacity. As a result, a third of those who said they were victims of this abuse said they planned to exit the hospitality industry.
