In the video, TikToker says via text message that it canceled the order at the facility after seeing employees handle chicken without gloves. It then shows the worker without gloves throwing pieces of chicken into the deep fryer.
Many commenting users have expressed support for the craftsman and his cooking tactics.
“He is working hard to prepare a delicious meal for someone. Acknowledge him for that, not for something even unrelated. Well done, sir,” said one user.
Another said: ‘All the bacteria are burned when the oil heats up, you’ll be fine, they won’t touch the wings when they put it in that pot lmfao.
“As a chef.. I promise you even at the best restaurants we don’t use gloves..,” a third said.
Some even argued that Wingstop did not allow its employees to wear gloves when handling chicken to avoid cross-contamination.
“People who have never worked at a wing shop don’t know we are not allowed to wear gloves when handling raw chicken only when prepping sides and dipping. FYI,” said one user.
“I work at wingstop. Before he dropped the chicken basket. He washed his hands and then dropped the basket. Plus, the fryer is at 350 degrees,” another said.
This echoes a now deleted TikTok from a manager who has confirmed that employees are not allowed to wear gloves.
Daily Dot has reached out to Wingstop via email for clarity on their policies and @ashcashnyc users via TikTok comment.
