BOSTON (WHDH) – The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Massachusetts after flying into Logan International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
William and Kate were flying commercially when they arrived in Logan just after 2pm. with a motorcade of state and local police on standby.
The royals leave the tarmac at 2:30 p.m. and are expected at Boston City Hall, where around 4 p.m. thousands of people are expected for a welcome ceremony, an occasion officials say is the best opportunity for the public to see them .
The Prince and Princess of Wales are welcomed by Mayor Michelle Wu, Governor-elect Maura Healey, US Presidential Special Envoy for Climate Issues John Kerry and US Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy.
William and Kate make the trip to announce the winners of the Earthshot Prize at a ceremony at MGM Music Hall in Fenway on Friday. To celebrate this week’s climate focus, several city buildings, including the government center’s T-station, will be illuminated green ahead of the royal visit.
