Will Smith attend the 2023 Oscars?

The movies have been watched, the picks are in and the alcohol has been bought. All you have to do is watch the Oscars this Sunday – and wonder how many slaps will be done. One thing we do know, however, is whether Will Smith will be in attendance after he punched Chris Rock for not keeping Smith’s wife’s name out of his frigging mouth.
Short answer: He won’t.
Longer answer: He won’t…because he’s barred from attending the ceremony. Or anything related to the Oscars.
“The Board has determined that Mr. Smith shall not participate, in person or virtually, in any Academy event or program, including but not limited to the Academy Awards, for a period of 10 years beginning April 8, 2022,” the Academy said Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences wrote in a statement. Usually the previous year’s winner for best actor presents the award for best actress, but not this time. Someone else has to present the trophy to Michelle Yeoh or Cate Blanchett.
When asked if The Slap would be credited, the show’s executive producer Molly McNearny said, “We’re going to credit it and then move on. We don’t want to make this year over last year. It’s certainly something we can and will address in a comedic way.” The crisis team has to come up with something else, like stopping the donkey from doing it EO away from the donkey The Banshees by Inisherin.
The Oscars air March 12 on ABC.
