One of Queen Elizabeth’s most notable perk as a monarch is that she has two birthdays – something the rest of us can only dream of.

Her Majesty was actually born on 21 April 1926 and celebrated her 96th birthday in 2022, but her ‘official birthday celebration’ did not take place until the second Saturday in June with the Trooping The Color parade – which was followed in 2022 by the spectacular Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Considering the work the reigning monarch puts in, it seems only fair that he gets to celebrate twice.

But will King Charles III, who celebrates his first birthday as monarch on November 14, also have a second birthday? Or is that just an honor for the Queen?

Will King Charles III have two birthdays?

Whether King Charles III. Will celebrate a second birthday has not yet been confirmed – but it seems likely that he will continue the tradition that dates back to 1748.

The first royal ruler to celebrate two birthday celebrations was the Queen’s distant relative, King George II – who wanted to celebrate his birthday with a public celebration complete with a parade and plenty of pomp and circumstance.

However, as she was born in November, the chances that the weather would hold up for a big outdoor party in the UK were pretty slim.

Instead, the monarch decided to use Britain’s annual military parade in the summer as an official birthday celebration, meaning he would celebrate his birthday twice – once publicly in the summer and once privately in November.

As His Majesty’s birthday is also in this month – he was born on 14th November 1948 – it seems likely that he will also celebrate his birthday a second time in June at Trooping The Color.

It’s been reported that he might opt for a ‘slimmed down’ version of it, wanting to tone down the glamor at royal occasions.

However, it remains to be seen whether Prince William will continue the tradition when he ascends to the throne – because his birthday is already in June, since he was born on June 21, 1982.
