Wife says server had to pay for food she sent back

TikToker Adele Brown (@adelelaresee) sparked viral debate after sharing her less-than-satisfying experience while visiting the Storming Crab restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In her clip, Adele claims her party of around 23 guests booked a table well in advance but received “terrible service”. One of the party’s main complaints was that they couldn’t get more than a single round of drinks when the bartender decided to leave in the middle of their shift.
Adele added that the waiter told them she was on the hook to pay for an item her group decided to send back to the kitchen. People who saw Adele’s video speculated that her party must have given the restaurant’s workers a hard time.
The TikToker says in the clip, “Well we’re at the Storming Crab and this service is terrible, we reserved a party weeks ago…about 23 people and we can’t get good service.”
“They messed up the whole meal; the bartender finished early and left; can’t get any more drinks,” Adele continues.
Then she shows the table where a large group is sitting and eating in the restaurant. Adele reiterates that despite their large group, they still do not receive proper service from the establishment.
The clip then quickly cuts to her, claiming that the waiter told her group that she needed to cover the cost of some items that the group returned to the kitchen.
“So she’s going to have to take the money from her check to pay for our dinner tonight,” says Adele. Someone else in the group jumps in and says “it’s only $20” and Adele goes on to explain that “she has to pay for it because the food doesn’t taste good”.

Adele’s post prompted a litany of mixed responses from TikTokers. A number of people seemed to think there was something “fishy” about Adele’s claims. One commenter noted, “I think we all know what actually happened,” while another wrote, “You know you won’t tip.”
Several viewers pointed out that members of Adele’s party complained about not being given drinks when one of the guests was holding a drink.
“When she’s holding a drink…” wrote one user.
“NO DRINKS while holding a drink. FYI the bartender is going home,” said a second.
“What if the bartender was sick or had an emergency?” another asked.
Some noted they were shocked to hear Adele and her group allowed the waiter to pay for the food they were sending back: “It’s not the waiter’s fault the food is cold. The chefs should be the ones paying for your meals,” said one.
Another TikTok user asked Adele directly, “How do you feel about the waiter paying for the food you ordered?” to which Adele replied, “Food brought back to the kitchen immediately on arrival. You pay for stuff you didn’t eat because of a mistake… I wont.”
Adele posted several follow-up clips to respond to some commenters who assumed she and her group were being rude to staff. She singled out one comment, explaining that it was one of many comments rooted in “stereotypical” views of black customers left by overbearing viewers.

She said her party “waited patiently” to “put the situation in order” and was not disrespectful to the restaurant’s staff. She added that eventually a manager came to her table to address her issues and apologize.
Addressing commentators’ observation that some guests in her group were having drinks, Adele said: “We had a round of drinks,” before adding that she and her group were at the venue for around three and a half hours. “The bartender was only there for about 45 minutes.”
Adele also said she didn’t agree that the server had to pay for the items being returned by the group and tried to speak to a manager on her behalf.
“She just, you know, shrugged us off and let us know that she’s going to take care of it simply because the owner doesn’t want to pay for it,” she says.
