Why Jana Kramer and her children celebrated Christmas 1 day late

A modern family! Jan Kramer was determined to have a great holiday with her kids – even if it meant Santa was a day late.

“Celebrated Christmas morning with the kids this morning,” Kramer, 39, wrote via Instagram on Monday, December 26, along with a sweet snap of himself with daughter Jolie, 7, and son Jace, 4. “It was still the same joy, even on a different day… and it even snowed like a real Christmas day. Pure magic.”

In a separate video, the little ones – and their pup – dress up in their best Christmas costumes as they thank jolly old St. Nick for her presents. “Oh my god,” Jace gushed as he opened a particularly good present.

“Thanks to the moms who told me about this idea,” Kramer captioned the adorable clip. “And a big shoutout to the Grinch for leaving me the flu in my stocking and an ear infection for Jace 😅.”

Later in the day, the “I Got the Boy” artist and Jace had to put their celebrations on hold for a doctor’s visit – while still wearing their Christmas jammies. “We’re with the doctors, double the disease,” Kramer said of her Instagram story.

The country music singer revealed it was the “first time I’ve had the flu,” before thanking her fans for all the “health.”

The “Whiskey” singer apparently celebrated the holiday a day late because the kids were spending it December 25 with her father, Mike Causin. Kramer and the former NFL player, 35, were married for six years before filing for divorce in April 2021 following Caussin’s repeated infidelities.

Earlier this month, the Michigan native opened up about her Christmas plans and how difficult the holidays can be with co-parenting.

“I’m going somewhere because I don’t have the kids for a week,” she said during an Instagram Story Q&A on Dec. 10. “Well, I’ll be back from this holiday [on] christmas eve But I’m just going to pretend it’s a normal day and not Christmas Eve because it’s going to make me sad.”

Kramer explained that this year she and her two little ones were creating new traditions and “making them our own,” but she’s known for a long time that it would be a challenging adjustment “from the moment I signed the divorce papers.”

“I was dreading this holiday,” she admitted in her social media upload. “Because I knew the first holiday was Christmas Eve and I always knew it would be the first [I was alone] and it was going to be extremely hard.”

However, the “Whine Down With Jana Kramer” podcast host shared that since Jolie and Jace “don’t know what day it is,” it’s easier to adjust to a new schedule.

“Yes at [their] Dad’s house is Christmas, but that doesn’t mean it has to be the same day here,” she said. “Because they don’t know. They just want [to] enjoy and be happy and get gifts. Santa’s magic and I need to have that attitude because I’d rather be positive and excited with them than be super sad on Christmas Eve because I don’t have them.”

That repair holiday star went on to note that her main goal is to make the days that she has her kids “the best” she can.

Kramer and Caussin married in May 2015 before welcoming their two children. While they briefly split prior to Jace’s arrival, they announced in April 2021 that they had called it quits for good. The divorce was finalized in July and the two have maintained an “OK” momentum of co-parenting ever since.

“It’s one of those things that hopefully over time we’ll be able to do [get along]’ Kramer said exclusively Us weekly in February and revealed that her children spend around 30 percent of their time with their ex-husband. “We’re doing a good job. All I’m saying is this: I’m doing my part in what I can do to be a good co-parent, and… he needs to come to terms with his own side of things. If he doesn’t want to be good at co-parenting, that’s up to him.”
