Some Aldi shoppers may remember an incident known as “Caterpillargate.” In a story similar to the gin dispute, Marks & Spencer has been selling a character cake decorated in the form of Colin the Caterpillar for over 30 years, explains BBC. When Aldi launched a similar Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake for a limited time, M&S sued. When Aldi announced that they were bringing the cake back for a charity fundraiser, M&S protested Twitter, “Hey @AldiUK, we love a charity idea (Colin has been a BIG fundraiser for years). We just want you to use your own personality. How about #kevinthecarrotcake? The idea is by us…and we promise not to do Keith.”
