The Strictly Come Dancing line-up is evolving fairly quickly, with comedian and actor Jayde Adams among the prominent names signed on for the BBC’s flagship show.
The 37-year-old will join Loose Women host Kaye Adams (no relationship!), Radio 2 favorite Richie Anderson, Hear’Say singer Kym Marsh and former Hollyoaks actor Will Mellor on the iconic show.
The celebs will team up with professional dancers to put their tango and waltz skills to the test as they compete on the ballroom floor in front of judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.
As she starts dusting off her dancing shoes, here’s everything you need to know about Jayde Adams.
Who is Jayde Adams?
Jayde, 37, is a comedian, actor, writer and singer originally from Bristol.
After her sister Jenna died of a brain tumor at the age of 28, Jayde said she stopped performing comedy, having just started the circle.
But as the grief subsided, Jayde restarted her comedy career and revealed that her sister’s death later gave her the fearlessness to pursue her dreams.
Her breakthrough came in 2014 when she won the main gong at the Funny Women Awards, paving the way for a show at the Soho Theater.
Not only has Jayde appeared on television, making her acting debut in Russell Howard’s A Gert Lush Christmas, Jayde has continued to gain recognition for her humor.
In 2016 she performed her first set at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe which was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
Three years later, she returned to the Scottish capital with the show The Ballad of Kylie Jenner’s Old Face.
What TV shows has Jayde Adams been in?
Jayde is no stranger to television and has appeared on dozens of shows as a host, comedian, actress and panelist.
On the acting front, Jayde is best known for her hilarious role in the acclaimed BBC comedy Alma’s Not Normal and for starring in Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens.
Elsewhere, Jayde has made audiences laugh with 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Russell Brand’s Stand Up Hour for Comic Relief, Roast Battle and The Chris Ramsey Show.
More recently, she hosted the Channel 4 and Netflix cooking show Crazy Delicious, in which daring home cooks impress judges like Heston Blumenthal with wacky, avant-garde dishes.
Jayde’s other presenting appearances include Channel 4’s Snackmasters, where she hosted alongside First Dates star Fred Sirieix.
After appearing on the drag scene as an Adele impersonator, she was also invited to take part in Adele on the BBC.
But Jayde left the show just before the Hello hitmaker surprised her doubles because she was beginning to be suspicious of the program makers and missed an opportunity to meet the Grammy-winning actress. What a mistake!
Who is Jayde Adams’ partner?
Jayde began dating fellow comedian Rich Wilson in 2017.
The couple are believed to still be together as there have been no reports of a breakup.
Rich hosts the podcast In The Men Brain, which seeks to destigmatize men by making them talk about their feelings and opening up about their mental health.
