We have a winner! The four pairs stay tuned Dancing with the stars faced each other in the final on Monday 21st November – but only one duo could take home the mirror ball trophy.
Charlie D’Amelio and Markus Ballas close hit Gaby Windy and Val Khmerkovsky in which cohost Tyra Banks dubbed “one of the closest finals in the history of this show”. Wayne Brady and Witney Carson finished third with Shangela and Gleb Savchenko fourth place.
Throughout the evening, the finalists each performed twice, taking the stage for a dance of redemption and freestyle. In the Redemption Round, contestants were given a second chance at either a Ballroom or Latin-style routine they had attempted earlier in the season in hopes of getting a better score than the first time.
Carrie Ann Inaba He assigned D’Amelio, 18, and Ballas, 36, a jive and challenged them to up their prom night rendition of lively dancing.
“Charli, that was remarkable. They’ve proven so incredible in terms of execution, style and technique this whole season, but that…she just danced for you guys with her heart,” said Inaba, 54, addressing the cheering crowd.
The finalists weren’t the only ones who had a chance to redeem themselves during Season 31’s swan song – all of the previously eliminated couples returned to the ballroom as well. Selma Blair — who left the competition early due to health concerns battling multiple sclerosis — danced a contemporary routine with her partner, Sascha Farberhow Jordan Sparks sang her song “No Air” live.
The performance-packed finale marked the end of an era for Len Gutman. The 78-year-old native of England announced his retirement from the reality competition series in the semi-finals.
“This will be my last season to judge Dancing with the stars. I’ve been with the show since it started in 2005 and it’s been a great pleasure to be part of such a wonderful show, but I’ve decided I’d like to spend more time with my grandchildren and family in the UK. “Goodman – who has served as chief judge for all but two seasons DTWS — said on November 14.

The California native has competed in 26 seasons of DWTSfirst appeared on the show in 2005. She has won the mirror ball twice: with Drew Lachey 2005 and with Emmit Smith in 2006.
