An environmental protester asked a driver, “Where do you want to go?” when he asked to let him through a blockade to the hospital.

Just after 12pm today, 20 Just Stop Oil supporters formed a roadblock along Shoreditch High Street.

Footage uploaded by the group showed a protester shouting, “Where are you going?” after the driver revved his engine on them.

The driver says, “My wife’s not well, mate. I gotta go to the hospital, get out of the way, mate.

“She’s not bloody well,” he adds, “get out of the way.”

“My wife’s not well, mate, I have to get out of the hospital and these c***s are doing shit,” says the driver.

‘Have some respect for other people and not just for yourself, yes?’ he adds: “there are other people who need to be given places.”

Just Stop Oil blockaded the Great East London thoroughfare on the corner of Great Eastern Street and Commercial Street.

The driver was stuck at the stop light outside the Savoy Cafe and Kitchen, and in front of him sat and stood Just Stop Oil members in high-definition orange vests.

Additional footage shows pedestrians yelling “get out of the way” and pulling members out of the middle of the street while car horns blare.

Another man snatched a banner from a protester’s hand as he said, “Get off the friggin’ street.”

A Just Stop Oil spokesman said: “Yesterday, Just Stop Oil supporters threw soup over Van Gogh’s Sunflowers on display at the National Gallery and painted over them The Metropolitan Police’s famous New Scotland Yard sign.

“We accept that both of these actions have upset and provoked many people, as has the disruption caused by today’s road closure.”

The coalition of environmental groups lobbying the government to halt all new oil and gas permits and licenses said millions are already “exposed to the brutal effects of climate change”.

“Nevertheless, our government is attempting to expand fossil fuel production,” the statement said.

“The government can at least end the disruption on the streets tomorrow by announcing this policy. You’ve changed your mind about everything else.’
