When will it rain in the Bay Area?

A storm that could bring nearly half an inch Rain across much of the Bay Area — and maybe 2½ inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains — is expected to arrive Sunday night.

The wind ahead of the storm was already evident at 1 p.m.; It’s expected to increase until the rain begins to fall, around 6 p.m. in San Francisco and the Peninsula and an hour or two after that in South Bay and Contra Costa County.

The updated radar map above shows areas of rain in green, with greater intensities indicated in yellow and orange. (Zoom out to see the bands over the Pacific.)

The forecast calls for showers to last through Monday evening.
