Do trains and buses run on public holidays?

Most trains and buses usually run normally on bank holidays, although there were a few on the last bank holiday London buses are on strike.

Some rail lines tend to do important work on public holidays meaning disruptions can occur, but there is often plenty of advance notice.

Buses otherwise run throughout the holiday, but services can change or be less frequent – so always check times before heading anywhere.

Most bus routes run on Sundays on public holidays, which means you can still catch a bus, but they may end earlier or have longer breaks.

If you’re one of those Brits who have to travel this bank holiday, most bus companies have a timetable you can check online so you don’t have to wait for a bus that doesn’t come.
