WhatsApp is working to show detailed reaction information for albums: report

WhatsApp introduced emoji reactions to the platform earlier this month. This feature allows users to express their feelings towards a message using six different emojis. Now, the news service is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to view detailed reaction information for auto albums without opening them. The meta-owned instant messaging app step would display a media thumbnail with detailed information on how to respond to messages. From now on, users need to open the album and go through each image to know the reaction details. However, WhatsApp has not yet officially confirmed the development of the new feature.

According to a report by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon make it possible to see which image in an album received which reactions without having to open it. When a person shares reactions to an image in an auto album, it is now not possible to see what media received the reaction without opening the album. The feature is under development and not available for beta testers. The report includes a screenshot showing the new option and giving users an idea of what the feature might look like when it starts rolling out. A new media thumbnail with detailed reaction information can be seen in the screenshot.

In early May, WhatsApp began rolling out emoji reactions to all users, allowing them to quickly share responses to specific messages using six emojis. The feature is already available in WhatsApp’s sister companies Instagram and Messenger. Reactions allow WhatsApp users to express their emotions such as “like”, “love”, “laugh”, “surprise”, “sadness” and “thank you” through their chats.

In addition to the reactions, the company is working on new ways to improve the group messaging experience on the platform. Work is planned on a new feature that will allow users to view past participants in their groups. The feature allows users to track the members who left a WhatsApp group in the past.
