MADISON, Il. – It’s race day at the Enjoy Illinois 300 in Madison, Illinois and 57,000 NASCAR fans sold out the inaugural event at World Wide Technology Raceway.
The race is scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy Illinois is a 300 mile, 240 lap race. The WWT Raceway course is 1.25 miles long.
In preparation for a race like this, the racecourse has been renovated and modernized for 10 years.
More than 80,000 people were expected over the three-day weekend.
It’s a big deal for the region and an important economic contributor to Illinois. According to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, this had a $60 million economic impact on the region.
This weekend’s celebrations included food, music, family activities and even STEM activities to stimulate children’s interest in the field.
Parking lots open at 6:30 am and 7:00 am Spectator gates, Enterprise Fan Zone, open halfway.
There will be a Rumble Before The Roar Pre-Race Party from 8:30am-12:30pm.
And at 2:00 p.m. the driver introductions begin.
