What sparked the heated exchange between Jackson Hastings and the Wests Tigers after the game?

Jackson Hastings has apologized for the incident, which led to a heated exchange of blows with his former club after the game, prompting security forces to step in to split players after Newcastle’s win over the Tigers on Sunday.
Hastings has revealed he has gone to see former teammate Tommy Talau after full-time to apologize for a tackle down the middle that broke his nose and ruled him out of the rest of the game.
Talau wasn’t in the mood to hear it and fired off some harsh words at the ex-Tigers playmaker.
“It was hot stuff,” Hastings said.
“I went to apologize. I didn’t realize in game that I collected it up. I went to knock out the ball to stop a try. I was reported and apologized on the field.
“I was just trying to do the right thing at the end of the game by apologizing, in the heat of the moment he was still angry which I really appreciate. No one wants to get hit in the head and they ruled him out of the game too so I’m remorseful there was no intention. I can understand why he would be frustrated.”

Tigers recruit David Klemmer, who joined the club from the Knights in the summer, then jumped to his new teammate’s defense. Security and Knights football boss Peter Parr had to separate the players.
“He’s known for being a great teammate and he stood up for his teammate,” Hastings said.
