One of the biggest nights in football is on Saturday, da Liverpool FC meet Real Madrid CF in the UEFA Champions League final.

Both teams are among the most successful teams in European football history, making it a showdown that football fans shouldn’t miss.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are set to kick off at 8pm at the Stade de France in Paris – but what is the history between the two teams and the decorated managers?

Here’s everything you need to know about their head-to-hard record and which team won the coveted Champions League trophy.

While the teams have only met a handful of times in their respective histories, it’s Rela Madrid who hold the advantage over Liverpool in the head-to-head stats.

  • Real Madrid wins: 4
  • pulls: 1
  • Liverpool wins: 3
  • Real Madrid goals against Liverpool: 10
  • Liverpool scored goals against Real Madrid: 8th

The teams have previously met five times in UCL, the first time in the 1980/81 final.

Liverpool won that first meeting thanks to an 82nd-minute Alan Kennedy goal and the 1-0 win gave them their third European trophy.

They next met in the round of 16 in 2008/09, with the Reds winning the first leg 1-0 and the second leg 4-0.

However, their last four Champions League encounters have gone to Los Blancos, with Real beating the Reds both times in their group stage games of the 2014-15 tournament.

Real Madrid knocked out Liverpool in the quarter-finals last year, but it’s the 2017-18 final that still hurts Liverpool fans the most.

In that game, Sergio Ramos dislocated Mohamed Salah’s shoulder in the opening moments, forcing the impressive winger out of the game. Gareth Bale scored with an incredible overhead kick as Real won the game 3-1.

Salah already declared “it’s time for revenge” before Saturday’s game.
