A customer filmed several Wendy’s employees seemingly ignoring her as she stood at the counter. Some of the workers made eye contact with the camera, indicating that they were aware they were being filmed.
TikToker @theycallmered_2 filmed and posted the video. She claimed in the video’s text overlay that one of the workers “chased her out the door” to ask why the TikToker was recording the employees.
Five workers can be seen in the video, all of whom appear to be busy with other tasks, such as: B. preparing an order for another customer. Several laugh and talk to each other.
@theycallmered_2 Nonexistent customer service and they want $15 an hour. 🥴🥴🥴 #fyp #horrible #wendys #badservice ♬ Original sound – theycallmered_2
The video has been viewed over 3 million times, with the top comment urging her to “send the video to the company”.
The TikToker referenced “Fight for $15” in its caption, saying, “No customer service in place and they want $15 an hour.” “Fight for $15” is the movement pushing the fast food minimum wage into to US$15 an hour in the US. Efforts to do this began a decade ago, according to Quartz, but that number is now out of date due to inflation and labor shortages.
In a Zenput blog, a Wendy’s manager claimed that “each shift will have between eight and 11 employees working at any given time.” So it’s possible the @theycallmered_2 location was undermanned at the time – a problem that affects many fast food joints, including Wendy’s, in the US
The Daily Dot has contacted @theycallmered_2 via email and TikTok comment and Wendy’s via press email regarding this incident.
