We spent our wedding catering budget on Mickey & Minnie Mouse performances – our guests were furious but we loved it

It’s no secret that weddings can be expensive.

Most couples save up for their big day for years to keep both them and their guests comfortable.

But this couple decided to change their wedding plans when they used their catering budget for something else.

They decided to skip the food and have performances by Mikey and Minnie Mouse instead.

The bride explained on Reddit, “We had the perfect wedding, everything was perfect, and I mean everything.”

But not everyone felt the big day that way, with the bride’s aunt posting on Facebook afterwards how disappointed she was at the total lack of food.

To make matters worse, other guests agreed with her.

She said, “Our parents were still very supportive, but everyone else is very passive-aggressive on Facebook.”

“The problem was our decision not to offer catering/bar service at our wedding because we were diverting money towards a wedding that Minnie and Mickey will be performing on our special day,” she added.

The user confessed, “My parents and his parents helped us pay for a large part of the wedding.”

Add to that the cost for Mikey and Minnie for two 30 minute performances is £2,191 per session.

It was “almost exactly what our parents planned for our catering budget,” she confessed.

They decided to forego catering for their guests to have their favorite cartoon mice at their wedding, one session during their first dance and one for their wedding photos.

The bride saw no problem with the decision, explaining that “a lot of facilities at the venue where people could eat” were explained.

And added: “We clearly outlined in the invitations that food was available at the venue.

“We didn’t exactly spell out every restaurant’s menu, but it was certainly mentioned.

“There were also vending machines everywhere.”

Although the original post was deleted, it quickly circulated online and people couldn’t believe the couple wouldn’t at least serve some food at their own wedding.

A person tweeted: “If I went to a wedding like that, I wouldn’t talk shit about it either… f*ck you mean you don’t cater??? At a WEDDING???”

Another said: “If I find out you spent $5500 on Mickey and Minnie Mouse pictures at your wedding I attended instead of serving food will be next time you see me , be in hell.”

While a third replied: “Imagine you get 5,000 from your parents for catering but you decide you and your grandma are walking around with low blood sugar drinking dasani and looking for decent food because you decide blowing it on 2 costumed mice.

“My people would have asked for their money back immediately.”
