WHEN Alexandra Adams’ husband, Cev, built a porch at their south London home, it was the neighbors who threw up sticks. . .
Financial analyst Cev and property manager Alexander are both 43 years old.
She says: “Shortly after we moved in, I came home one day and Cev had built a porch.
“He hadn’t even asked my opinion, he just said it.
It was massive, not a delicate little thing, and right on the border between us and next door.
“He’s Turkish and over there every house has a porch in the garden, so he wanted the same for our house.
“But it was clearly visible from the neighbors’ house.
“Even though we never really met our neighbors, we always said hello and had a smile for each other.
“Suddenly it stopped. We never saw her.
“Then they started doing strange things like vacuuming loudly very early or late at night. It seemed like they wanted to say something.
“When we went into the garden, they went in. Sometimes I could swear I heard tutting from her side of the fence. It felt very uncomfortable.
“But it’s our garden and certainly our business what we put into it.
“Two months ago I gave birth to our daughter Lara.
“That same week, the couple moved out without telling us.
“We’re in our 40s and haven’t had any loud parties, so I don’t see what they’re upset about.”
