Watch out for special WhatsApp code – it could mean someone is trying to HACK you

WHATSAPP plans to increase security after a series of scam attacks.

For years, scammers have been stealing money from unsuspecting victims.

In some cases, people are duped by thousands.

Despite WhatsApp’s repeated attempts to stop hackers, attackers continue to find new ways.

To prevent further attacks, the developers are working on a new idea.

According to WABetaInfo, a duplicate verification code could be the answer.

This is because cyber scammers often try to remotely break into people’s WhatsApp accounts using a single verification code, such as the one currently available.

They contact you pretending to be an official and need the code.

Once they have it, they can log into your account and impersonate you when messaging friends and family, where the real danger begins.

Instead, WhatsApp wants to add an additional verification code, separate from the first one you receive via SMS when you try to log in from a new device for the first time.

So if you get a second code from WhatsApp, it should serve as a massive warning sign that someone is trying to hack your account and you shouldn’t share that code with anyone.

Enhanced security is not yet available, it is still being developed.

And as with any early glimpse of new features, WhatsApp may well choose not to proceed fully with it.

However, it would be a massive missed opportunity if they decided against it as this tool could really protect millions of people from scammers.
