WATCH: Fox freed from Beverly sewer grid – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BEVERLY, MASS. (WHDH) – A fox got into a slippery situation when he was extricated from a sewer grate in Beverly with the help of a neighbor’s olive oil and soap.

This is not the first time a fox has been found in this predicament in the area.

“I came out this morning and a fox just stuck its head through the hole,” said Phil Dennison, who found the fox dangling by his neck in the sewer grate outside his Beverly home.

Animal welfare officials arrived at the scene to free the fox and used the neighbor’s supplies to make him smooth enough to slip through the trellis. Officers then hosed down the fox before releasing it back into the wild.

“Save the little guy! Live another day!” said one viewer.

Last week another fox was in the same situation in Billerica. Earlier this month, another fox got stuck in a trellis in North Andover.
