Warner collects $80,000 for the second ball Duck before shoving Wade

“That was inappropriate,” said Fox Cricket commentator Kerry O’Keeffe. “It’s unsavory. You can’t have contact like that. I don’t know if they were half joking. The body language suggested no.

“There was a certain vibrancy out there. This is now a bad-tempered affair.”

Green and Wade spoke to each other on Channel Seven after the match and downplayed their Stoush.

“It’s all good,” Green said. “We knew we were underperforming on a really good wicket and we’re both strong competitors on the field. [I was] trying to create something out of nothing.

“No problem. If you want to keep digging, there’s nothing. We both play with feeling on the pitch. I personally have no problems with him.”

Wade added, “I’m fine. I couldn’t beat him [for runs while batting]that was more my frustration.”

Warner and Wade spoke after the match and appeared to be in good spirits.

David also gave his version of events.

“We know Wadey loves to get into competition and be a little bit feisty,” said David. “Greeny raised him. I was there trying to defuse it and they got on each other a bit.”

Match referee David Johnston may see things differently as players are not allowed to make physical contact on the field. Johnston could hand out fines.

Wade and Warner’s altercation will certainly get people talking about the BBL, but not in the way CA would have hoped.

While a significant portion of Warner’s contract includes a marketing component paid for by CA, his dollar-per-run ratio will be the talk of the town after Sunday’s brief stint.

After making 19 of 20 balls in the Thunder’s nine-wicket loss on Friday night, Warner was under pressure to fulfill his mega contract.

Of course, there is more to T20 cricket than just runs. Warner excels in this area and his experience is a huge bonus to the Thunder.

Its ability to attract an audience and boost television ratings were factors in CA’s decision to rake in such a large dollar amount per game.

Warner has already earned $160,000 per game. Divide that by the 19 runs Warner did and he pocketed $8,421 for each run.

On Friday, Warner batted for 37 minutes while on Sunday he was at the crease for three minutes.

It means Warner was making $4000 a minute while he was at the crease. It’s an hourly rate of $240,000.

For context, Warner and other Australian stars receive $18,500 in match payment for a test.
