Walmart workers handle an injured deer inside a Viral TikTok store

People expect to see a lot of strange things at Walmart. It’s just one of those stores that attracts so many people for so many reasons that quirks seem inevitable. But sometimes, things happen at the big box store that surprise even Walmart shoppers.

Video of a deer being pinned to the ground by an employee has gone viral on TikTok.

The real incident took place in June, in Baraboo, Wisconsin. A deer wandered into the store and the employee in the video managed to hold it and pin it to the floor so it wouldn’t keep running around, injuring itself and customers — not to mention causing a fight. The mess these poor employees will have to sort out.

Viewers who first saw the video as it hit more than 800,000 views on TikTok this week didn’t seem as surprised as shoppers watching the whole thing unfold in real life. But they worry for both the deer and the staff, who are faced with a wild animal roaming the aisle.

“She knows she’s not being paid enough to do all that,” commented @veighway.

“That deer did no harm to anyone,” argues @485ifbs.

Another viewer joked, “Is this why [there are] no subscriptions open at Walmart? ”

“I choose my battles and it won’t be one of them,” admits @stephanie7020. “An elderly resident struggles with a deer.”

Fortunately, neither the deer nor the worker were injured in the battle. And according to the report At the time, employees worked together to get the deer to the back of the store, where they opened a door and returned it to the outside world.
