Walgreens mails check addressed to customer’s cat

A TikToker recently went viral after finding himself in a special situation.

According to TikTok user Kat (@indooroutdoorkat), she had gone to Walgreens to get prescription eye drops for her cat, Gandalf. Unfortunately, the store overcharged her for the drops, resulting in Walgreens sending a check to make up the difference.

The only problem? They sent the check on behalf of the cat.

“They literally mailed a check to a cat,” says Kat.

In the video, Kat reveals the check, which identifies the recipient as “GANDALF-CAT FOLEY.” The check is $15.51. Kat’s video currently has over 3.7 million views.

Initially, many users had ideas – mostly humorous ones – of what Kat could do with the check.

“Frame it and hang it over his favorite spot for a nap,” advised one user.

“Bring the cat to the bank,” suggested a second.

“She needs a bank account now so she can cash this,” wrote a third.

But there were also serious proposals.

“Think you can endorse the check to Gandalf and then write ‘Payment on Behalf of’ and your signature under it and deposit it,” claimed one commenter.

Another user noted that while this is possible, Kat technically needs Gandalf’s permission before she can do that. In a follow-up video, Kat jokingly tries to get permission from the cat to cash the check.

In short, the cat responded by meowing.

It’s unclear if this means “yes” or “no,” but TikTokers had theories.

“Gandalf said redeem it and buy me treats with it,” wrote one commenter.

“Bankers here — I saw that,” another TikToker offered.

“Yes it was and I heard please bring home toy mice and treats,” echoed another user.
