A show-off driver was filmed speeding at 150 mph with his pup in the passenger seat.

Aaron Duffy, 29, has avoided jail after posting video of him in his Mercedes to his Instagram – showing his speedometer hitting high speeds.

It was captioned: “Puppy hit his first 150mph today. Didn’t even wake up – he’s too cool for that.”

He has kept more than twice the speed limit on the M4 in South Wales.

But Duffy was arrested after one of his followers who saw the video reported him to the police and shared the footage.

A spokesman for the GoSafe Highway Police Unit said: “The investigating officer determined that the vehicle belonged to Duffy.

“Landmarks extracted from the footage were then placed on police systems to determine the location of the crime before CCTV was requested from Traffic Wales.

“The video surveillance showed Mr Duffy driving at high speed around junctions 36 and 37 of the M4.

“It also shows that he nearly loses control of his vehicle as it crosses the solid white line towards the median, kicking up a cloud of dust and debris.

“In order to confirm the speed shown by Duffy, the data was provided to an expert to perform speed calculations from the footage.

“This confirmed that Mr. Duffy’s vehicle was traveling well over the speed limit at approximately 140-150 mph.”

At Cardiff Magistrates Court, Duffy, from Bridgend, South Wales, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

He was sentenced to an 18-week suspended sentence and a two-year road ban.

Inquiry officer PC Andrew Simmonds said: “Speeding and using a mobile phone while driving are two major causes of road accidents.

“The combination of these two actions puts every person on the street at risk and could have had a devastating impact on themselves and their families.

“This incident and the investigation that followed is a great example of how we can work with the public to make our streets safer.”
