Visit the Queen Chelsea Flower Show LIVE

THE QUEEN will announce at the last minute if she will be attending the RHS Chelsea Flower Show today for a private tour of this year’s gardens.

Buckingham Palace said last week the Queen hopes to attend the Chelsea Flower Show next week, Buckingham Palace said.

Members of the royal family will attend the show today ahead of Tuesday’s official opening.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra will be in attendance.

Her Majesty has attended the world-famous event, hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society, of which she is Patron, more than 50 times during her 70-year reign.

The director of the Royal Horticultural Society, Sue Biggs, said Her Majesty the Queen was “the very special person for us”.

She told BBC Radio 4: “There’s a whole range of different signatures. So we had a signature, which is a painting just for one member of the royal family, with their favorite flowers, and that’s what we have at the exhibition today. And the queen is the only queen in history to have three signatures painted on her.

“So we hope she is well enough to join us today and we look forward to seeing her later in the afternoon and showing her the signature which will be great.

“But you can’t walk through this show – whether you’re in the amazing 39 gardens or in the 80 exhibits in the Grand Pavilion – and see everyone’s love for the Queen and the Queen’s tribute on this very, very special occasion. ‘
