Viral TikTok shows Pasadena police entering the house without security

A viral video of police storming a home in Pasadena, Texas has sparked controversy on TikTok, where it has garnered 1.4 million views. It was one of several police officers who stormed a home in the midst of a highly tense confrontation.

The video shows the officer yelling at a young woman and members of her family to approach another family member who was in the bathroom. When the young woman filming, @biancarodriguez23, asked if they had a search warrant, one of the officers told her, “We don’t need a warrant right now.”

Another family member was handcuffed while on the ground before being told why, with the officer telling him the move was for their own safety and would be explained.” in one minute”.

A warrant is not required in every situation, but it’s unclear which of these situations would legally allow police to enter a home without a search warrant. This Exception include emergency situations, urgent situations such as the possibility that someone is actively destroying evidence or consent from insiders.

The person who posted the video, @biancarodriguez23, did not share any additional information about why the police were there and what authority they had to enter the home.

While this information is not available, she has said that the family is seeking legal action.

Commenters found the footage she shared to her TikTok account creepy, but pointed out that the story was missing something, such as why the police were there in the first place and what happened. What happened after they left?

“So why don’t you explain why they’re there when you say in a comment on season 2 that they explained later?” wrote one commenter. “Looks fishy.”

Others disagreed on whether the entry was legit.

One commenter claiming to be a parole officer wrote that from their point of view the situation appeared to be an illegal police incursion.

“I am a parole officer and this is illegal entry,” they wrote. “He then called back a support unit saying the suspect refused to leave the house and that they were inside.”

The Daily Dot has contacted the Pasadena Police Department directly as well as @bianacarodriguez23 via Instagram about the incident.
