Videos show smoke rising from a damaged plane and passengers being evacuated

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – It was rush hour traffic on the Dolphin Expressway when an MD-82 jetliner carrying 126 people caught fire on Tuesday’s landing at Miami International Airport.
Rafael Medina couldn’t believe what he saw on the catwalk. The jetliner’s nose was damaged. Dark smoke billowed from a wing. The landing gear collapsed, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Medina, which was just meters from the plane, recorded video showing some of the people being evacuated screaming and crying. They managed to slide down.
SKY 10 captured aerial video showing Miami-Dade firefighters quickly using white foam to douse the blazes. A bus later took passengers to the terminal, where some were reunited with loved ones.
Only three people suffered minor injuries, according to Greg Chin, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. The National Transportation Safety Board announced a team will continue investigating Wednesday.
