Caracas, Venezuela – The leader of the US-backed opposition in Venezuela was physically assaulted during a visit to a rural community.
So say members of his parallel government, who on Saturday accused a group of ruling party allies of carrying out the attack.
A photo accompanying the opposition statement shows Juan Guaidó being restrained as people gather around him and someone rips his shirt off.
The parallel government said the group of allies of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela “beat and insulted” Guaidó.
He tweeted that he plans to make a statement on social media Saturday night.
