Cruise Center already has contracts with the Nets, Kings, Knicks and Celtics this season, and will give the short-sleeved Jazz another body to throw in the big man rotation.

Toronto • Utah Jazz unexpectedly signed midfielder Norvel Pelle in a 10-day contract.

RBA Sports special agent BJ Bass confirmed his signing with The Salt Lake Tribune on Friday morning. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the tentative deal.

Before Friday night’s game at ScotiaBank Arena, the Jazz had a depleted roster. After Joe Ingles becomes the first of the team to participate in COVID-19-based health and safety protocols this season, Rudy Gobert joins him on Thursday. Meanwhile, Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic were all eliminated due to minor injuries and did not accompany the whole team to Canada.

The Jazz’s line-up has an additional question mark, as Royce O’Neale, Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay and Hassan Whiteside all have been given the status of “Possibly Suspicious” on the team’s official injury report on Thursday – puts Utah very close to not having an eight-player requirement minimum to play a game.

After signed a 10-day contract with Danuel House Earlier this week, Jazz added Pelle to a similar contract.

He’s appeared in 37 NBA games over the past two seasons, including 24 games with the 76ers last season, and 13 games this season with the Nets, Kings, and Knicks. He was also signed to a 10-day contract with the Celtics on December 25, but did not appear in a game against the Celtics.

The 6-foot-10, 231-pound player is 28 years old and has a career average of 2.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 tackles in 8.5 minutes per game.

With Gobert and Whiteside both missing the Jazz’s game against Denver on Wednesday, the Jazz were forced to split their focus minutes with Udoka Azubuike (who started his first career in the first game back after a serious ankle injury), 6-8 Rudy Gay, and 6-6 Eric Pashcall.

Pelle is expected to be in the game against the Raptors.
