The Beehive State is one of only five US locations to make the list.
National Geographic included Utah in its 2023 “Best of the World” list, which includes 25 of the most “inspirational” travel destinations on earth.
National Geographic describes Utah, with its five national parks and eight national monuments, as an “adventurer’s dream destination.”
Utah is the only place in the US in the adventure category, along with the countries of New Zealand and Austria, as well as Revillagigedo National Park in Mexico and the Inca site of Choquequirao in Peru.
“Utahners and visitors alike know that Utah is a place for a wide range of transformative experiences,” said Vicki Varela, executive director of the Utah Office of Tourism. “National Geographic’s recognition of ‘Best of the World’ is a wonderful endorsement of our beautiful places.”
The Beehive State is also one of only five US locations on the list, with Milwaukee, Wis., in the community category; Big Bend National Park in Texas in the Nature category; Charleston, SC, in the Culture category; and San Francisco, California, in the family category.
“‘Best of the World’ is Nat Geo’s annual love letter to the world’s most incredible places, near and far,” said Nathan Lump, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic.
