US President makes surprise visit to Ukraine
London: US President Joe Biden has arrived in Kyiv, his first visit to Ukraine since Russia invaded almost a year ago.
The surprise visit, reported by several international media outlets, came as he traveled to neighboring Poland to meet President Andrzej Duda.
The President said: “One year later, Kiev is standing. And Ukraine stands. Democracy stands,” as he announced new military aid to the country in its fight against the Russian defense force.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Biden’s visit was an “extremely important sign of support for all Ukrainians”.
