US lawmakers voted unanimously to declassify all documents on the origins of the coronavirus, including the lab leak theory.

The House of Representatives voted 419-0 on Friday to pass a bill that would require Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines to release “all information about potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology” and Covid-19.

Also, the director must provide “as much information as possible to the public” about the origins of the virus.

The bill now goes to President Joe Biden to enact.

It was two weeks after the Department of Energy concluded that an accidental lab leak in China was most likely the cause of the pandemic.

“The American public deserves answers on every aspect of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Republican House Intelligence Committee Chairman Michael Turner.

Turner noted that this includes “how this virus came about and specifically whether it was a natural occurrence or was the result of a laboratory-related event.”

On March 1, FBI Director Christopher Wray said the agency believes Covid-19 most likely stemmed from a lab accident.

The release of all the documents should help Americans better understand “why the FBI director has indicated that a Covid-19 lab leak is not just a possibility but is getting closer to the idea that is likely,” Turner said during a hearing on Tuesday.

dr Anthony Fauci, Biden’s top health adviser, who retired from government last year, said he still believes Covid-19 arose naturally but said he was open to other theories. Earlier this week, Fauci was accused of trying to shut down professionals who believe the lab leak hypothesis is the start of the coronavirus.

Fauci denied those allegations in an interview with Fox News on Thursday.

Biden will “look at the bill,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. However, she did not comment on whether he would sign it.
