Urgent search for man, 33, missing while wild camping with dog

A man has disappeared while hiking his dog in the Scottish Highlands.

Kyle Sambrook, 33, traveled to Glencoe from West Yorkshire on Saturday February 18.

He had told his loved ones that he was planning to hike and wild camp on Buchaille Etive Mor with his beagle dog named Bane.

Kyle was due to return to West Yorkshire by Tuesday February 21 but has not.

But nothing has been heard from him since Saturday.

Police say Kyle arrived in the Glencoe area around 3.30pm and his car, a black Peugeot 208, was found in the Three Sisters car park.

The 33-year-old is described as white, 5’8, of medium height, with ash blonde hair, short hair, red/blonde stubble and blue eyes.

He speaks with a West Yorkshire accent.

Lochaber Police are asking for the public's help in the search for 33-year-old Kyle Sambrook who has gone missing in the West Yorkshire area. It is believed that he intended to walk and wild camp in this area with his beagle dog and intended to climb Buchaille Etive Mor. He was due to return to West Yorkshire on Tuesday 21 February 2023 but did not return. His vehicle has since been in the Three Sisters car park in Glencoe. Kyle has not contacted anyone since arriving in Glencoe on Saturday. Kyle is described as white, 5-8 tall, medium height, ash blonde hair, short hair, red/blonde stubble, blue eyes, West Yorkshire accent. He was believed to be wearing khaki and black Merrel hiking boots, khaki and black Revolution Wraith outdoor pants, a dark and light blue Peter Storm hooded water jacket, and a gray North Face beanie. He was carrying a gray and yellow Merrel backpack. His dog is a medium-sized beagle who is white with brown markings on his back and is named Bane. He also had a green two-person tent that he wanted to use. Buachaille Etive Mòr, also known as The Buachaille, is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive in the Scottish Highlands.

It is one of the most famous Munro peaks in the country.

Police in Scotland have also urged anyone with dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.
